My Favorite Places to Study at Stonehill College

As we are nearing the end of the semester, I thought to share some of my favorite places around campus that are my go-to study sites. There are a lot of hidden gems at Stonehill that serve as perfect places to catch up on some work and prepare for finals - I promise they won't disappoint!

1. Donahue Irish Studies Library

This is probably my number-one study spot on campus. Donahue has always been my favorite building at Stonehill, as I'm a sucker for 19th century, Victorian vibes. This mansion is so beautiful, and its library's traditional interior and ornate elements will truly transport you to another time. A lot of people don't know about this spot, so it is the perfect place to get a quiet study session in. Definitely check this one out if you are a fan of dark academia!

2. Second Floor of MacPhaidin Library

The second floor of MacPhaidin is my go-to study spot. There are so many great options for seating and studying, from cubby desks to regular tables to comfortable chairs. This level of the library houses some gorgeous stained-glass windows, along with rows and rows of old books (aka my favorite kind of books!).

3. Top Floor of the Martin Institute

On the top floor of Martin lies a small study room that hosts arguably the most beautiful views of campus. Along with being comfortable and quiet, it is adorned with large windows that allow you to see all the way from the Martin Institute to the famous Donahue hill. Many of my friends always recommend this spot to me - it is a fan favorite for sure!

4. The Chapel of Mary

If you are looking to change your study routine up a bit, head over to the Chapel of Mary. Right outside of the main chapel area are some tables that serve as great places to get some work done. Also, there are a few couches surrounding a warm fireplace. That being said, this is definitely one of the coziest study spaces on campus and my go-to workplace on chilly winter days.

5. Meehan School of Business Great Room

The Great Room in Meehan is a wonderful place to get some work done. It is open and airy and full of funky, contemporary furniture. There are plenty of seating options, from large tables and couches to smaller coffee tables and comfy chairs. This room also has a massive fireplace that creates a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. Not to mention, Gigi's is right around the corner if your craving a little snack during your study break!

5. The Quad

When the weather is nice out but you are drowned in schoolwork, that does not mean you have to bunker up in the library all day. Take your work outside to the quad! This semester, there are several wooden lawn chairs scattered out on the quad, and many students take advantage of the nice weather to sit outside with their friends, eat lunch or dinner, and even do some homework. The quad will bring you some stunning views of campus, along with a calming atmosphere to keep you feeling refreshed amidst your studying.

6. Outside of the Chapel of Mary

This is another fantastic outdoor study spot. There are a few tables scattered around the pond right outside of the Chapel that always serve as great workspaces if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful environment. The views are stunning, and the sounds of surrounding nature never fail to fill me with a lighthearted spirit.

7. Study Nooks in May Hall and Meehan School of Business

These two buildings host plenty of small study spaces that are often overlooked. They are great options if you have a brief break and want to get some work done before heading to your next class. These little nooks are comfortable and intimate - perfect for a quick study session!
